Lithops, commonly known as Living Stones, are remarkable succulents native to southern Africa. Their name, Lithops, aptly translates to "stone face" in Greek, reflecting their uncanny resemblance to small pebbles or stones. These low-growing succulents have evolved to mimic their rocky desert surroundings, which enables them to avoid predation and withstand harsh conditions. They are renowned for their unique appearance, often resembling a pair of leaves with a cleft or fissure at the top, where daisy-like flowers emerge. Caring for Lithops requires a delicate touch, as their adaptation to arid regions means they have specific needs.mmer and propagates easily.

Lithops Living Stones Succulent Care

Watering

Lithops have a distinct watering cycle. In their active growing season (spring and autumn), water sparingly when the soil is dry. During their dormant period (summer and winter), withhold water entirely to mimic their natural environment.

Light

Provide ample sunlight for Lithops; they thrive in bright, indirect light. A sunny windowsill or outdoor location with gentle morning sun is ideal. Protect them from intense, scorching midday sunlight.

Temperature

Keep Lithops in a warm environment. They prefer temperatures between 65°F to 80°F (18°C to 27°C) during their growing season and can tolerate cooler temperatures during dormancy.

Soil Mix

Use a well-draining succulent or cactus mix. A blend of potting soil, perlite, and coarse sand replicates their natural habitat, ensuring proper drainage.

Humidity

Lithops are adapted to arid climates, so they prefer low humidity. Normal household humidity levels are generally suitable.

Fertilizer

Limit fertilizer application to their active growing season, spring and autumn. Use a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer every 6-8 weeks.

Toxicity

Lithops are non-toxic to humans and pets, making them a safe addition to your home.

Testimonials

★★★★★

This shop has great customer service. Although they mainly sell pots they also have a few plants to sell. I bought one of these plants and it shipped very fast. The plant I received is beautiful but it was the wrong plant. I contacted the shop right away. I told them I will keep the plant but I’d still want to buy the one I wanted. The plant I wanted also cost less so I offered to pay the difference too. The shop apologized for the mistake and said they will send the right plant right away and to keep the plant i already received. I thought that was awesome, thoughtful and very professional and that goes a long way. Thank you so much and I really appreciate that.

Simply a beautiful and artistic Peety pot. Will be the pot for an Adenia metamorpha and the two will definitely display awesome artistry.
